Me

I’m a California raised guy who grew up in a family of 9 children in a small town of Livermore in the East Bay Area. At the age of 3 my Pop realized that I preferred being outdoors  and that innate quality has never left me.  As a family we camped every summer for a couple weeks at a time. My father was a school teacher and had summers off so we could enjoy camping or on a special occasion we might stay in a friend’s cabin. It was here in the pines that I felt most alive and taught myself to fish. I intially bought a Zebco and caught bluegill with redworms we dug up. Around our Livermore home there are two main bodies of water I could visit by bicycle. Lake Del Valle and Shadow Cliffs. I would frequent them often and fish the small creeks that fed them. Now after 40 years of fishing and fly fishing I have continued to find tremendous comfort in God’s  Wilderness the Sierra Nevada. Some of my other interests include photography, faith, and mentoring young men.  I think by viewing this blog you should be able to pick up on some of those passions.

    Paul,

It’s fun to see your photo of me painting by the arroyo. I finished the piece, and titled it “Feral Almond”, Would you like me to send you a digital photo of it, so you can post it next to your photo?

Meanwhile, I have a dozen paintings in a two person show at Deer Ridge Vinyards, on Wetmore at Arroyo,, April to May 31st. There will be a reception Sunday April 19th, 2-4. (at that time of day, the light is too flat for photography, or for going fishing, so I hope you can make it!)

    SIncerely,

    Carolyn
