November 29th, 2009Hope
November 25th, 2009I won’t pretend to know what you’re thinking
I can’t begin to know what you’re going through
I won’t deny the pain that you’re feeling
But I’m gonna try and give a little hope to you
Just remember what I’ve told you
There’s so much you’re living for
There’s a light at the end of this tunnel
There’s a light at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you
There’s a light at the end of this tunnel
Shinin’ bright at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you
So keep holdin’ on
You’ve got your disappointments and sorrows
You ought to share the weight of that load with me
Then you will find that the light of tomorrow
Brings a new life for your eyes to see
So remember what I’ve told you
There’s so much you’re living for

Happy Thanksgiving and I pray for you to have Hope!

November 23rd, 2009Family fishing
November 22nd, 2009I brought my friend’s up to the lake this afternoon to fish for trout and relax. It was really enjoyable showing and helping them to catch some fish! I asked My friend’s daughter what she liked best and she said, “I liked fishing.” I asked his son and he said, “I liked touching the fish, it felt weird.” Ha! So precious to watch this family experience a great afternoon out in nature just a few miles away! Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving week my friends and family! God bless! PM
Livermore wine country
November 22nd, 2009Livermore California is my home town since 1965. It is fast becoming known for it’s many wineries. An interesting place to live really with the largest concentration of scientists in the Bay Area due to the Lab. Also, sporting many long established cattle ranchers and world’s fastest rodeo, A majority of my friends that grew up here have stayed because it has remained a welcome community and great place to raise a family!
Still Waters Run Deep
November 19th, 2009Funny how someone you have hardly known a little while can read you like a book. I was fortunate to be blessed by her words in the middle of my pain and now I know I’ll never be the same. Thank you Shannon, this poem is for you!
Still waters run deep they’re thoughts she spoke for me to keep. She told me not to underestimate my many gifts or waver from the truth inside. A gentle man who’s photography has captured his essence and show cased for all to see that still waters run deep. How come I didn’t see all this time the very thing that made me live and speak until she pointed out that still waters run deep. I’ve made a promise and kept it to the end and now it’s time to let go and feel the seas beneath my feet upon miles of water to tread where still waters run deep beside the river’s bend.
The Lake
November 14th, 2009If you drive past Wente Vineyards on Arroyo road in Livermore you come up to the north entrance of Lake Del Valle (The Dam side). After a steep hike in a relatively short distance one can take in this beautiful view of the lake. If you stay on the trail you can hike all the way to the Southern entrance of the park. That will take about 2 more hours to hike at a good pace. There are red tail hawks to keep you company and if one is fortunate they may spot a bobcat or mountain lion. I was hoping to see the tarantulas that come out this time of year to migrate.
I grew up in Livermore and have spent many many days as a youth up this hill and then down to the lake to fish. I still enjoy coming up and talking to other visitors, some from the area and some from nearby cities. Today I saw some old friends Becky and Scott and met a wonderful family that moved to Fremont from Washington State and came here for the first time this afternoon. They had four young girls who all managed the hike quite well! Good times! PM
Fluff
November 13th, 2009In the silence while fishing in a dense bed of cattails I sat among my thoughts. I could hear the faint wind rustling the reeds and gentle waters lapping against the shore. A brief moment of quiet interrupted by a couple of mud hens quirky chirps as they pecked at the vegetation for food. It was here that I anticipated something bigger. And as I waited in my own silence of heart I began to hear God speak to me about fluff. You know that stuff that can consume much of your life without you even seeming to notice. It can be idle conversation that robs us of being authentic. Surface talk. It can be busyness that robs us of noticing the people right next to us. I am guilty of that. Of being too pre-occupied in tasks. It can be a general negative thought pattern that invokes worry and doubt. This can be fed by over imagining circumstances often forced on us by the media we ingest. Fluff in essence shortens our life span by choking out our full potential and the abundant life we are meant to live.
And so I sat here taking inventory of my fluff. Handing it over. Disecting it’s contents. I don’t want to live in this arena. My life is too short to be consumned with fluff. This is good stuff. Quiet of the soul. Redirection. I believe the counterfiet as American’s are the summer vacations we think will restore us. We end up fatigued more than refreshed most times. I understand why God calls us to a weekly Sabbath day. It’s as if He is telling us, “locate your fluff and give it to me and you will find rest for your souls and a better way of doing this life.”
Have you any fluff my friend?
PM
