This versatile pattern was created by Leonard Halladay in 1922 of Mayfield, Michigan, in honor of Charles F. Adams of Lorain, Ohio, a lawyer and an accompished Flyfisherman of considerable repute. Since then it has become, without a doubt, one of the most popular flies, attracting plenty of big trout under a wide variety of conditions!
This is my second attempt tying this pattern. Things to be aware of are not to crowd the head as I used a smaller hook size and had to use two grizzly hackles and one brown saddle hackle. Picking smaller hackles and begin tying them about one third of the way towards the eye helps to reduce crowding.
